Pico Truncado

Pico Truncado is a city in southern Argentina. It is located in the department Deseado in the northeast of the province of Santa Cruz and has about 15,000 inhabitants. This makes it the third largest city in the sparsely populated province.

Geography

The town is located 80 kilometers west of the Atlantic coast of the Golfo San Jorge on the Patagonian meseta. The climate is kühlgemäßigt, dry and windy, with relatively cool summers and cold winters.

Economy

Pico Truncado is the center of an area to be promoted in the petroleum and natural gas. She is known as the "Capital of the natural gas " in Argentina. Furthermore, the town is the service center for several small towns and villages.

Tourism

Although the town itself and the surrounding area are touristy comparatively unattractive, but finds in Pico Truncado the most famous Folk Festival in Patagonia, the Festival de Folklore Patagónico instead.
