Piedimonte Etneo

Piedimonte is a city in the Province of Catania in the Italian region Sicily, with 3990 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Location and data

Piedimonte located 44 kilometers north of Catania on the eastern slope of Mount Etna. The inhabitants mainly work in agriculture, forestry and tourism.

The neighboring municipalities are Calatabiano, Castiglione di Sicilia, Fiumefreddo di Sicilia, Linguaglossa, Mascali and Sant'Alfio.

History

The town was founded in 1687.
