Piedimonte Matese

Piedimonte Matese is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 11,456 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the province of Caserta in Campania. It is part of the Comunità Montana del Matese. It lies at the Parco Regionale del Matese about 31 kilometers north of Caserta, about 29 kilometers southeast of Isernia. Piedimonte Matese is immediately adjacent to the provinces of Benevento and Campobasso.

While the church first belonged to the province of Caserta to 1927, she came to the province of Benevento, in 1945 the province of Caserta, in turn, to be added. Since 1975, ie the municipality no longer Alife, but performs its present name. Partly also the compound Piedimonte Matese d' Alife is needed. Since 2003, the community is entitled città (city).

Traffic

The municipality is crossed by the Strada Statale 158. In Piedimonte Matese is the head - end station and the ferrovia Alifana whose railway line extends from here to the station of Santa Maria Capua Vetere.
