Pier Carpi

Pier Carpi (actually Piero Arnaldo Carpi, born 16 January 1940 in Scandiani, Reggio Emilia province, † June 26, 2000 in Viadana, Mantova ) was an Italian comic book writer, author, screenwriter and film director.

Life

Carpi was in 1961 at the age of 21 years editor of the satirical magazine Bertoldo. In the comic field, he worked from 1963 by creating for the publishing house Mondadori various texts on Disney comics. As a writer, he published his first work in 1964, which includes many more followed. Together with Alfredo Castelli founded Carpi in 1970, the magazine horror. In 1974 he was working for the film with a screenplay for the first time Cagliostro. Subsequently, he was also director of two unusual films in which he reworked religious themes and psychological self- observation. In 1993 he wrote a screenplay again.

Carpi was also active as a theater director. For his journalistic and literary work he has been awarded several times. He was married to the writer Franca Bagliardi.

In German are Carpi next to The Prophecies of Pope John XXIII. The history of mankind from 1935 to 2033 have been published among others in the series Walt Disney's Funny paperbacks and some Mickey Mouse Disney comics.
