Pierluigi Cera

Pierluigi Cera ( born February 25, 1941 in Legnano ( VR), Italy ) is a retired Italian footballer.

The defender Pierluigi Cera played in the 1960s and 1970s for the club AC Cesena and Cagliari Calcio and Hellas Verona. 1969/70 he won with Cagliari Calcio Manlio Scopigno the Scudetto, the Italian championship. He stood in the squad of the Italian national team at the World Cup in Mexico in 1970, where he became vice - world champion and used as a defender at the memorable match of the century in the semifinal against Germany. In the 67th minute of this game he fouled Franz Beckenbauer in the penalty area. However, referee Arturo Yamasaki moved the crime scene outside the box. Beckenbauer dislocated his shoulder in the challenge, and now had to with a sling to continue.

Cera played from 1969 to 1972 a total of 18 caps for Italy. He scored his only goal on October 17, 1970 in a 1-1 draw in the match against Switzerland.
