Piero del Pollaiolo

Piero del Pollaiuolo, Piero di Jacopo d' Antonio actually Benci (* 1443 in Florence, † 1496 in Rome) was an Italian painter and probably sculptor and goldsmith.

Life

Piero del Pollaiuolo was a younger brother of Antonio del Pollaiuolo from which it was probably formed. Already in 1460, he worked with his brother at three Hercules images in the Palazzo Medici. He was an employee in the workshop of his brother Antonio, where he specialized in painting. Piero was mainly active in Florence. Busy is a stay in San Gimignano. From around 1489 he worked in Rome.

In many of his pictures a staff Antonios is suspected. Numerous images that had, until recently as works Antonios are now attributed to Piero himself.
