Pierre-Antoine Lebrun

Pierre -Antoine Lebrun (* November 29, 1785 in Paris, † May 27, 1873 ) was a French poet.

Life

1805 was able to inspire with his epic poem Ode à la grande armée Napoleon Bonaparte Lebrun, that this him an annual honorarium ( 1,200 francs ) approved for life. Two years later, Lebrun received due to his Ode sur la campagne de 1807 a job as a tax collector.

Due to the political turmoil of the time lost by the restoration Lebrun later this benefice and after the publication of his poem Sur la mort de Napoléon payment of his honor Soldes was adjusted.

Inspired and influenced by the works of Friedrich Schiller wrote his 1820 Lebrun Marie Stuart already. From the plays this tragedy is considered one of his most important pieces; a perfect mix of interpretation and free translation.

Lebrun later made several trips to and through Italy and Greece. One of his most important publications in this period was in 1828 his poem Voyage en Grèce. For this he was still taken as an immortal in the Académie française in the same year ( fauteuil 28).

After completion of the July Revolution of 1830 Lebrun was to lead the Queen's Printer, the " Imprimerie Royale ", entrusted. 1839 he was appointed a peer of France. In 1844 he was made an honorary member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences.

After the suppression of the February Revolution Lebrun resigned all his offices and retired into private life. The appointment as Senator in 1853 was associated with no obligations, and 15 years later the appointment was made Grand Officer of the Legion of Honour. As such, Pierre -Antoine Lebrun died at the age of 87 years on May 27, 1873 in Paris.
