Pierre Benoit (novelist)

Pierre Benoit (* July 16, 1886 in Albi, Tarn, † March 3, 1962 in Ciboure, Pyrénées- Atlantiques) was a French novelist.

Benoit was successful debut in 1918 with his novel Mark Koenig; This work is considered one of his most important. It was filmed in 2010 four times. His novel L' atlantide was awarded the Grand Prix du Roman of the Académie française.

1929 appointed to Benoit as president of the Société des gens de lettres and with effect from 11 June 1931 he was admitted as a successor to the late playwright Georges de Porto- Riche to the Académie française ( fauteuil 6).
