Pierre Braine

Pierre Edmond Ernest Braine ( born October 26, 1900 in Berchem, Antwerp; † November 6, 1951 in Antwerp) was a Belgian football player. The midfielder stepped up to the Beerschot VAC and in the national team of his native country.

Career

Pierre Braine has already played in the youth at Beerschot VAC, a forerunner of today's Germinal Beerschot in the A- team being asked to play for 14 years. He won with his club five times the Belgian championship.

In addition, Braine was eight years in the squad of the Belgian national team, for whom he played 46 games and with which he participated in two major tournaments: 1928 out at the inaugural FIFA World Cup contributed to the Summer Olympics and two years Braine the jersey of Diables Rouges.

On November 6, 1951, he died of a heart attack he had suffered in an Antwerp café.

His younger brother Raymond is one of the best Belgian soccer players before the Second World War and was also the first professional football player in his home country. His 1930 born son Roger was briefly also in the highest Belgian football league active, but only with moderate success.
