Pierre Duchesne

Pierre Duchesne ( born February 27, 1940 in La Malbaie ) is a Canadian official. Since 2007 he is the incumbent Vice Governor of the province of Quebec. As such, it represents the head of state, Queen Elizabeth II, at the provincial level.

Biography

After graduating in law from the Université Laval in Quebec City Duchesne worked from 1966 in Sept- Îles as a notary. From 1974 he worked in various capacities for the National Assembly of Quebec. From 1984 to December 2001, he was its general secretary, then he was to the end of 2003 working for the provincial government as special advisers. He is the editor of La procédure parlementaire du Québec and author of Le Règlement annote de l' Assemblée nationale, two important publications on the procedures of the National Assembly.

On 18 May 2007, the Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced the forthcoming appointment Duchesnes known as new Vice- Governor of Québec. The sworn in by Governor General Michaëlle Jean, on 7 June 2007.
