Pierre Durand, Jr.

Pierre Durand ( born February 16, 1955 in Saint- Seurin- sur -l'Isle, Gironde, France ) is a French former show jumper.

Durand rode up to the year 1987 only in his spare time, he worked professionally after studying law as a lawyer, bailiffs and bankruptcy trustee. In 1984, Pierre Durand Jappeloup de Luze at the Olympic Games in part, has been with the team and came sixth in the individual standings 14

In the summer of 1987 Pierre Durand won the individual European title in show jumping, with the team he won the silver medal. He decided now fully concentrate on riding. At the World Cup finals in the spring of 1988, he finished second.

His greatest achievement was winning the individual gold medal at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul. Here he was with the team also third parties. In 1990 he was with the French team world champion at the World Equestrian Games in Stockholm. All these achievements he reached together with the dark brown gelding Jappeloup de Luze, which was put to him by Henry Delage available. After his great success, he was taken from the marketing company IMG under contract.

After his athletic career, he was from 1993 to 1998 president of the Fédération française d' équitation (FFE ), comparable to the German Equestrian Federation.

The life of his success horse Jappeloup de Luze was filmed in 2011 by Christian Duguay and came in 2013 in the French cinema.
