Pierre-Jean Mariette
Pierre -Jean Mariette ( born May 7, 1694 Paris, † 1774 ) was a French engraver, collector and art critic.
His grandfather was Pierre Mariette (1603-1657), who already acted as a printer with stitches and books, as well as his father Jean Mariette (1660-1742), who took over his father's trade.
The collection Mariette, which included drawings and engravings in the first place, was sold in 1775. A copy of the sale catalog with sketches of Gabriel de Saint- Aubin is now in Boston at the Museum of Fine Arts ( Department of Prints and Drawings ).
