Pierre Veuillot

Pierre Marie Joseph Cardinal Veuillot ( born January 5, 1913 in Paris, † February 14, 1968 ibid ) was Archbishop of Paris.

Life

Pierre Veuillot received his philosophical and theological seminary training " Des Carmes " in Paris and received on 26 March 1939, the sacrament of Holy Orders. He then worked as a pastor and teacher in Paris, before he entered the service of the Vatican Secretariat of State in 1949.

1959 he was appointed by Pope John XXIII. Bishop of Angers. The bishop ordained Pierre Veuillot on 1 July 1959 by the then Archbishop of Paris, Cardinal Maurice Feltin. In 1961, Pierre Veuillot Titular Archbishop of Constantia in Thracia (per hac vice ) and Koadjutorerzbischof of the Archdiocese of Paris, 1966 Archbishop of Paris. He participated in the years 1962-1965 at the Second Vatican Council. Pope Paul VI. took him on 20 June 1967 as cardinal priest with the titular church of San Luigi dei Francesi to the College of Cardinals.

Pierre Veuillot died on 14 February 1968 in Paris and was buried in the local cathedral.
