Pierre Villette

Pierre Villette ( born February 7, 1926 in Duclair; † 6 March 1998 in Aix -en- Provence) was a French composer.

Villette was born into a musically active family and learned as a child to play the organ. After teaching by Maurice Duruflé he attended from 1941 to 1946 the Conservatoire de Paris. In 1957 he was appointed director of the Conservatory of Besançon. Due to his failing health, moved to a region with a milder climate, and in 1968 took over the management of the Conservatory of Aix -en- Provence.

Villettes catalog includes more than eighty titles, including in addition to numerous chamber works motets, two exhibitions and an operetta.
