Pierreville (Meurthe-et-Moselle)

Pierre Ville is a commune of 321 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Meurthe -et -Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district of the canton of Nancy and Vézelise.

Geography

The municipality Pierre Ville in the northern landscape Saintois lies on the left bank of the lower Madon, eight kilometers before its confluence with the Moselle and 18 kilometers south of Nancy.

2.87 km ² Pierre Ville is one of the smaller municipalities by area, in Lorraine. The municipal area extends from Madonufer which forms the eastern boundary of the municipality that tower in southwestern direction to the rolling hills, the Madontal up to 70 meters. Outside the built-up settlement area there is mostly in front of arable and meadow land. The proportion of forest in the municipal area is small with about 20 ha.

Neighboring communities of Pierre Ville are: Frolois in the north, Pulligny in the east, Autrey in the south, southwest, and Xeuilley Houdelmont in the northwest.

History

1094 Pierre Ville was first mentioned in the founding of the monastery of Saint- thiébaut in Metz.

In the Middle Ages was at Madonufer against Frolois a castle, no more of the remains today. 1544 and 1630 were as the plague years in the history of the village, 1630 a storm destroyed also a third of the harvest.

The bridge over the Madon was built in the 17th century, the Church in Pierre Ville dates from the 18th century.

Demographics

The inhabitants Pierre Villes has almost doubled 1962-2006. The steady growth of the population is due to individual housing construction in the west of the municipality as well as the proximity to the metropolitan Nancy / Ludres / Neuves- Maisons.

Economy and infrastructure

For over 100 years, cement is produced north of Pierre Ville. A quarry of this cement plant, which belongs to the Vicat Group since 1965, is located on the municipal territory Pierre Villes. A part of the population commutes south of Nancy in the industrial areas. In place small craft and service companies are located, in addition to Pierre Ville are three farms.

Transport links

Pierre Ville is connected to all five neighboring communities by roads. To the north is connected to the expressway Neufchâteau Ludres (D 331), which in turn binds to the Autoroute A330 to Nancy. The Pierre Ville Train Station is on the railway line Nancy- Mirecourt - Merrey, which is operated by the transport undertaking TER Lorraine.
