Piet de Wit

Piet de Wit ( born March 6, 1946 in Wormer ) is a former Dutch racing cyclist.

Piet de Wit grew up in a family with three siblings, his parents worked in the bicycle industry. As a teenager, he started cycling, but also operational and ice skating rings.

1966 and 1967 won de Wit behind the pacemaker Norbert Koch, the world championship of amateur stayer. Four times, he also won a Dutch title on the track. From 1968 to 1974 he was a professional. He also started at 61 Six Days; In 1973, he won the Zurich in collaboration with Leo Duyndam.

After his cycling career de Wit took over the business cycle of the family in his hometown and was able to expand the business activities. In 1994 he retired from the business. For several years he was manager of the Dutch railway teams and operates alongside his sporting hobbies, cycling and Korfball.
