Pieter Holsteyn II

Pieter the Younger Holsteyn (* 1614 in Haarlem, † in July 1662 ) was a Dutch painter, draftsman and printmaker. He is the son of Pieter Holsteyn the Elder and brother of Cornelis Holsteyn.

Pieter the Younger worked in Haarlem, where he became in 1634 a member of the local Guild of St. Luke. Like his father, he was known primarily for small-scale animal paintings. The attribution of the recent work is controversial, as Pieter the Younger in his father's workshop started in Haarlem and the same signature used. Pieter the Younger Holsteyn was also in Zwolle, Enkhuizen, Münster ( Westphalia ) and Amsterdam operate. He died in 1673 in Haarlem.
