Pieter Pourbus
Pieter Pourbus (* 1523 in Gouda, † January 30, 1584 in Bruges ) was a Flemish painter of the Renaissance, cartographer, engineer and land surveyor.
Following the example of the painter van Mander Pourbus moved to Bruges, as this city during his lifetime he was offered the opportunity to establish himself as a painter. In 1543 he became a member of the guild of painters of Bruges. Later he became a member of other municipal associations, such as the Archers of Bruges.
