Pieter Steyn

Pieter Steyn ( born October 6, 1706 Haarlem, † November 5, 1772 in The Hague) met between 1749 and 1772, the Office of the Dutch Council pensioner.

Steyn was the son of the mayor of Haarlem Adriaan Steyn and his wife Johanna Patijn. Between the years 1724 and 1726 studied the rights to the University of Leiden. He married twice, but both marriages remained childless. As Grand Pensionary he had a long tenure; in this he was able to keep out the Republic of the United Netherlands from the Seven Years' War.
