Pietna

Pietna (1936-1945: pond floor ) is a village in the municipality Krapkowice in the Opole Voivodeship in Poland.

Geography

Pietna located south of Żywocice, on the right bank of the Osobłoga ( Hotzenplotz ), which opens at Krappitz in the Oder. By Pietna the Province Road 416 ( droga wojewódzka 416), which runs from Krappitz out in a southwesterly direction Oberglogau runs. There are several ponds and agricultural farm and forest land in the vicinity.

History

The village was probably founded 13th century, which finds evidence of vascular pieces from that period. Other traces of human settlements can be found in several places. On a memorial stone in the center of the village of the year 1298 is given as start-up or the earliest mention of the year.

The Duchy of Opole belonging to the village was called in the Middle Ages as Laschic. Other forms of this name are Laschkowic, Lascicz and Laschicze. Since 1550, the name Pieten is common. The spelling Pietna was first mentioned in 1784. The place name probably comes from the relief of the surrounding terrain. It is assumed that the name refers to the foot of a hill. Another possibility is the origin of the name of a drink instead of water, which was called Pitna.

From 1816 to 1945 Pietna belonged to the district of Neustadt OS and was incorporated since January 1, 1874 the District Stiebendorf.

In 1845 the village had 220 inhabitants, of whom 26 were Protestant denomination. There were 38 houses, a farm, an inn, a water mill and a sawmill at the Hotzenplotz. In addition, there were two Pietna forge.

On 15 June 1936, the name was changed in the pond floor. Since it is in the area east of the Oder -Neisse line, it was made after the Second World War, according to the decisions of the Potsdam Agreement of 2 August 1945 under Polish administration and the former place name Pietna reintroduced. Until the administrative reform of 1956 Pietna belonged to the powiat Prudnicki and then to the newly constructed powiat Krapkowicki. Also since 1956 Pietna is a district of the state and country community Krapkowice.

In recent years, several measures for the general beautification of the village. 2005 Pietna won the competition " Piękna Wies Opolska " ( Beautiful Opole village).

Local partnerships

Since August 2002 Pietna maintains a partnership with the community Mittelhof in the municipality of knowledge. The on 30 May 2003 documented consolidated partnership was initiated by the inhabitants of Pietna who sought a partnership with a German community. As the city Krappitz already has a long partnership with the City of Knowledge, was looking for a church in the Wissener community association, and finally with a partner Mittelhof found.
