Pietro Anastasi ( born April 7, 1948 in Catania ) is an Italian former football player.

Career

The 1.72 m tall center forward Pietro Anastasi began with the football game with his Sicilian home club Massiminiana Catania. At 17, he was there his debut in Serie D and scored 18 goals in 31 games in 1966, after which the Series B club Varese FC brought him to himself. With Varese he rose in the first year in the Serie A, and was appointed in 1968 to the squad of the Italian national team for the European Football Championship 1968. Here he made the final against Yugoslavia in attack alongside Luigi Riva his first international match. The first final ended 1-1 after extra time and had to be repeated. In the second game initially scored the 1-0 Riva and Anastasi increased already in the 33rd minute to make it 2-0. Italy was the European champion title no longer take.

After the successful 1968 European Championship Anastasi moved to Primus League Juventus. In his first season he scored 14 goals for Juve. Although Anastasi one of the scorers was at Juve, were from other national successes. His only World Cup tournament he played at the Football World Cup 1974 in Germany, where he appeared as a substitute in the first game against Haiti for Giorgio Chinaglia, scored a goal and then played the other two group matches from the start. But Italy dropped out after a 1-2 defeat against Poland in already.

Pietro Anastasi joined in 1976 by Juve to Inter Milan. However, he was no longer the successful strikers of the past years at this time. After three years at Ascoli Calcio from 1978 to 1981, he finished his career there. Overall, he brought it to 338 Serie A Appearances, scoring 105 goals.
