Pietro Ciriaci

Pietro Cardinal Ciriaci ( born December 2, 1885 in Rome, Italy, † December 30, 1966 in Rome ) was a Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Pietro Cariaci completed his studies in Rome starting with doctorates in Catholic theology, philosophy and canon law. He received in 1909 the sacrament of Holy Orders, and then worked as a chaplain in Rome. In addition, he taught philosophy and fundamental theology at the Pontifical Urban University and the Apollinare Athenaeum. From 1911 he took in addition to his teaching activities, performs various tasks in the Vatican. 1918, the title of a secret chamberlain of His Holiness, he was awarded, in 1921, a papal prelate house. In 1922, he traveled as a Papal envoy to Czechoslovakia.

In 1928 he was appointed by Pope Pius XI. Titular Archbishop of Tarsus and Apostolic Nuncio to Czechoslovakia, in 1934, he entrusted him with the same task in Portugal. Pope Pius XII. Pietro took Cariaci 1953 as cardinal priest with the titular church of Santa Prassede in the College of Cardinals, and appointed him a year later prefect of the Congregation Council, which office he held until 1966. In 1955 he was also President of the Pontifical Commission for the Authentic Interpretation of Canon Law. He participated in the years 1962-1965 at the Second Vatican Council.

Pietro Cardinal Cariaci was in the Basilica of San Lorenzo in Lucina, whose title he wore as a cardinal since 1964, buried.
