Pietro Farina

Pietro Farina ( born May 7, 1942 in Maddaloni, † September 24, 2013 in Pozzilli ) was Bishop of Caserta.

Life

Pietro Farina studied after the completion of the minor seminary of Caserta theology and philosophy at the seminary of Benvenuto and the Seminario Francese a Roma. At the Pontifical Gregorian University, he graduated in theology and social sciences. He received June 26, 1966 ordained a priest and was a member of the Missionaries of the Kingship of Christ. Many years he was a pastor in Mezzano, assistant to the diocesan Catholic Action, Rector of the Minor Seminary, Professor, Department of Religious Studies and Vicar General. He was Regional Director of Associazione Nazionale San Paolo Italia ( ANSPI ) and assistant to the Movimento di Ecclesiale Impegno Culturale ( MEIC ). He was committed to the Fondazione Villaggio dei Ragazzi.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 16 February 1999 to the Bishop of Alife - Caiazzo. The Cardinal Prefect of the Congregation for Bishops, Cardinal Lucas Moreira Neves, OP, gave him on 17 April of the same year the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Cardinal Michele Giordano, Archbishop of Naples, and Raffaele Nogaro, Bishop of Caserta. As a motto he chose Et resurrexit.

Pope Benedict XVI. appointed him on 25 April 2009 to the Bishop of Caserta.
