Family

The Lando family is recorded for the first time in 1151 in Venetian records. She was among the case nuove.

Life

After studying philosophy Lando initially proposed a career of a businessman. He was praised for its excellent navigational skills. After his return to Venice, he worked first as a lawyer, then was sent as ambassador to the Vatican, called away from there but after a short time to take a fleet command. He had to have a respectable career as Generalkäpitän. During a battle against the papal troops in 1509 he was captured at Faenza and only 1512 released. During his time as Podesta of Padua, he had to renew the university. In 1534 he was procurator of San Marco.

The Dogenamt

He was forced to sign a humiliating peace treaty with Suleiman in 1540, making the last possessions of Venice went over to the Peloponnese to the Ottoman Empire.
