Pietro Tacchini

Pietro Tacchini ( born March 21, 1838 in Modena, † March 25, 1905 same place ) was an Italian astronomer.

Life

Tacchini in 1859 director of the observatory of Modena. Since 1863 he worked at the observatory of Palermo mainly with the observation of the sun and then became director of the observatory of the Collegium Romanum in Rome.

With Angelo Secchi Tacchini founded in 1871, the Italian Spectroscopic Society, in whose writings he has since published the results of his inquiries. In 1874 he observed the transit of Venus in India.

Tacchini was 1888, the Rumford Medal.

Pietro Tacchini died on 25 March 1905 in his hometown. According to him, the moon crater Tacchini and the asteroid ( 8006 ) Tacchini was named.
