Pievepelago

Pievepelago is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 2239 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the Province of Modena in the Emilia- Romagna. The municipality is situated approximately 54 km south-southwest of Modena and directly borders the province of Lucca ( Toskana. Pievepelago belongs to the Comunità Montana del Frignano and is part of the Regional Park dell'Alto Appen Modenese. Located in the village, the mountains Monte Giovo 1991 rise (meters ) and Monte Rondinaio (1964 meters). Several lakes are located in the municipal area.

History

The village was first mentioned 753 and later 1038.

Traffic

Passing through the municipality, the Strada Statale 12 dell'Abetone e del Brenner of Pisa to the Brenner pass.
