Pike County (Mississippi)

The Pike County is a county located in the U.S. state of Mississippi. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Magnolia.

The County is located in southern Mississippi, bordering Louisiana and has an area of 1064 square kilometers, of which five square kilometers of water surface. It borders the following counties and parishes:

History

The Pike County was formed on December 9, 1815 from parts of Marion County. It was named after Zebulon Pike, a general and explorers.

According to the census in 2000, lived in Pike County 38 940 people in 14 792 households, and 10,502 families. The population density was 37 people per square kilometer.
