Pilchowo, Szczecin

Pilchowo ( German Polchow ) is a district of the city of Stettin ( Szczecin) in Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship with a population of 986.

Geographical location

Pilchowo lies on the left bank of the Oder north-west of the city center and the old town of Stettin.

History

Until 1938 Polchow was an independent village community of Pomerania in the district of Stettin Pomerania. Around 1932 the municipal government of Polchow measured 11.4 km ², and there were three residences on the Bam, Polchow and Sauersack mill with a total of 54 residential and (1925 ) 421 inhabitants, of whom 416 were Protestants and two Catholics. On October 15, 1938 Polchow was annexed by the city of Szczecin.

After the Second World War, the community was renamed along with Stettin part of Poland and in Pilchowo.
