The Pilgrim nuclear power plant (English Pilgrim Nuclear Generating Station ) is a nuclear power plant with a boiling water reactor, which was built by General Electric. It is located in Manomet, Massachusetts south of Plymouth on Cape Cod Bay.

History

The construction of the nuclear power plant was begun in 1968 and 1972 it took on the commercial operation. It was acquired by the utility Entergy 1999.

In 2003, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC ) approved a power increase by 1.5%.

The operation given license expired in 2012, an application to renew the operating license by 20 years was provided by the operator on 27 January 2006.

The request was granted by the NRC in May 2012.

Incidents

The nuclear power plant has been completely cut off in the blizzard Nemo in February 2013 during a little more than four days from the network, after which the cooling had to be done with diesel engines.
