Pim Verbeek

Pim Verbeek ( born March 12, 1956 in Rotterdam, Netherlands) is a Dutch football coach.

Career

The son of Sparta player Koos Verbeek played like his father also for the Rotterdam club; 1977-1980 he came in 25 Eredivisie games for use, in which he scored two goals. Pim Verbeek then began his coaching career in 1981 at just 25 years at Dutch club FC Dordrecht as an assistant coach. From 1984 to 1987 he coached Unitas Gorinchem, an amateur club in the third highest Dutch league. Then Verbeek got his first professional contract as head coach of the second division VBV De Graafschap Doetinchem. A great success he was able to celebrate success with the Dutch club Feyenoord, where he was initially for one year head coach. In 1990 he became the assistant coach of Hans Hagelstein, with whom he has led the team to the KNVB Cup victory in 1991. Over the next six years Verbeek coached three other Dutch clubs - FC Wageningen, FC Groningen and Fortuna Sittard.

1998 he moved for the first time away from his home country and he went to Japan there to train the team of Omiya Ardija. This had in 1999, following the establishment of a second Japanese professional league, the J. League Division 2, relegated. Only a year later, Verbeek has left the club and returned to his home, where he worked for a year in the scouting department of the Dutch national football team. In 2001 he went back to Asia again and was assistant coach Guus Hiddink at the South Korean national football team, which is excreted at the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Germany until the semi-final against Germany and was able to celebrate its largest ever sporting success.

After his time in South Korea, another short engagement followed the Japanese club Kyoto Purple Sanga, whose descent Pim Verbeek in 2003 but could not prevent. In 2004, he coached the football team of the Netherlands Antilles and he was assistant coach of his compatriot Dick Advocaat at the Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2005. Then they both went to South Korea, where Verbeek has already been set for the second time as an assistant coach of the South Korean national football team. With the Football World Cup 2006 South Korea already retired from in the first round. After 2006 Advocaat Zenit St. Petersburg trained from July 1, his post in South Korea was leaked and Verbeek was promoted from co- head coach. In July 2007, he asked for the termination of his contract after he was criticized by the Korean media because of the play of his team. From December 2007 until the summer of 2010 coached the Australian national Verbeek. He led the team to participate in the Football World Cup 2010 in South Africa, was missed at the four points of the second round feeder. Since April 8, 2010 Verbeek trained the U -23 from Morocco, who participated in the qualification for the Olympic Games in 2012.
