Pimlico tube station

Pimlico is an underground station of the London Underground in the district of Pimlico in the City of Westminster and in Travelcard Zone 1 Here courses of the Victoria Line. In 2011, 8.79 million passengers used the station.

The opening took place on 14 September 1972, the trains ran here, however, since the July 23, 1971 without stopping by. Pimlico is the only station of the Victoria Line without transition to railway lines or other underground lines. It was only subsequently integrated into the project, since the distance between Victoria and Vauxhall would otherwise have been too large. Until the extension of the Jubilee Line in late 1999 she was the last station of the newly opened Underground.

The station is part of an office building, that was until April 2006 completely occupied by the Office for National Statistics, the statistical office of Great Britain ( since March 2008, is headquartered in Newport ). The main entrance is located at the junction of Bessborough Street and Rampayne Street; only from here lead down stairs to the platforms. The other two inputs at Drummond Gate and on the other side of the Bessborough Street, however, also have wheelchair ramps.
