Pina Menichelli

Pina Menichelli ( born January 10, 1890 in Castro Reale; † August 29, 1984 in Milan ) was an Italian theater and silent film actress. It is next to Lyda Borelli and Francesca Bertini one of the most famous divas of the Italian silent cinema.

Life

Giuseppina Menichelli, born to Sicilian actor who made ​​his debut in 1907 in the theater group of the actress Irma Gramatica. In 1913 she made ​​her first appearance in a movie and was with her demonically seductive spectacle beside Francesca Bertini and Lyda Borelli one of the most famous divas in the Italian film of the 1910s. She starred in the film company Cines under Enrico Guazzoni, Nino Martoglio, Baldassarre Negroni, Nino Oxilia and Augusto Genina. With the films Il Fuoco (1916) and Tigre Reale ( 1916), in each case on the side of Febo Mari and under the direction of Giovanni Pastrone, she reached the peak of her career.

In the early 1920s she tried with roles in film adaptations under Amleto Palermi and Telemaco Ruggeri an image makeover, but did not reach the previous success. She played her last role in Occupati d' Amelia on a play by Georges Feydeau. In 1925, she retired into private life.
