Pingo Doce

Pingo Doce, [' Pigu ' dɔsə ] to German Sweet drops, with over 350 branches, the second largest supermarket chain in Portugal.

Pingo Doce was founded in 1980 as a sales division of the Jerónimo Martins Group. Since 1992, Pingo Doce JMR operates a joint venture in which Jerónimo Martins holds 51 % and the Dutch retailer Ahold acquired 49%. Jerónimo Martins bought in the 1990s, the Brazilian supermarket chain Sé Supermercados, the Brazilian equivalent of Pingo Doce. In the early 2000s, Companhia Brasileira de Distribuição / Grupo Pão de Açúcar Sé bought and named to the shops to Pão de Açúcar and CompreBem. 2008-2010 Pingo Doce has taken over the Feira Nova brand.
