Pintabian

The Arab Pinto (often: Pintabian or Pintarab ) is contrary to many opinions, no color breed, but a specially recognized breed of horse. Purebred Arabians with piebald coat must demonstrate 99% Arabian blood concentrations. Although this breed is well known, it is with around 300 registered horses to the rare breeds. In Germany more than 90% of rich Arabian proportion to be recognized as Pintabian ( ZSAA ).

Exterior

Due to the high proportion of Arabs in the blood, the striking similarity persists for Arabian and acts in conjunction with the colorful color mixing and the elegance of an Arabian horse often very exotic. The head is (as with the Arabs too) small and dry ( called pike head or " Arabs kink" ) with straight or concave profile, a broad forehead, large eyes and crescent-shaped ears. Neither shall the Arabian Pinto is a horse of a square format with a beautifully arched neck, short back and a high set tail. Desirably a 50/50 share in the color scheme, which consists of a white base color and spotting, during the dark colors is still dominant, but no guidelines are. The basic color of the limbs is usually white, but for the hull only Tobiano is allowed. The long hair is often in two colors: white mane, tail dark hair. A two-color mane is here but also not uncommon.

Interior

In its character, the Arabs Pintos do not differ from their single-color breed fathers. Not for nothing are Arabs into one of the most popular breeds of horses worldwide, but they are as intelligent, very people oriented, persistent, hard working and versatile. It is through this versatility Arab Pintos are not just for show or pleasure horse, but find it more and more Arabs Pintos in the ranks of Western riding horses again.

Breeding history

A purebred Arabian breeding with classic lines will never have piebald coats. But to make the dream of Pied Arabs true, a Tobiano was crossed with a purebred Arabian breeding to seven generations. Breeding experts were aware that the Tobianogen is dominant over other genes and that it is therefore possible to breed pied Arab with this same pattern. Thus, a breeding line from tobiano - patterned horses with over 99 % share Arabs originated in the blood. After each breeding generation could Pied Arabs brought forth, Arabian and Arabs were again used for breeding, so the Arab bloodlines have been preserved and the Arabian Pinto, as we know it today, arise.
