Piotr of GrudziÄ…dz

Piotr z Grudziądza (Piotr Wilhelmi z Grudziądza, Petrus Wilhelmi de Grudencz, * 1392 in Graudenz ( Grudziądz ), † 1480 ) was a Polish composer and poet.

Piotr z Grudziądza began in 1418 to study at the University of Krakow, where he graduated in 1430 as Master. Then he left Krakow and stayed presumably in Vienna and the region of Basel. In the 1440s he was cappellanus at the court of the Emperor Frederick III .. After that he went to Bohemia. 1448 he tried in Bishop Peter Novak in Wroclaw for a job as a canon in women Castle ( Frombork ). 1452 he undertook a journey to Rome.

His works are preserved in different, mainly Czech sources such as the Code Speciálník, the Franus - Kantional, the Gradual of Chrudim and the Glogau Song Book. It's motets in Latin.
