Pipecutter

A pipe cutter ( pipe cutter, slitter ) is a hand tool for cutting metal pipes. It consists of a C- shaped support (similar to a simple screw clamp with immovable clamp arm ). At the opposite legs two rollers and a cutting wheel are mounted. By a threaded spindle of the intermediate distance can be changed.

In order to separate a pipe, the tool is fully open and the inserted pipe. The cutting wheel will be pressed with the lead screw against the pipe. If one turns now to the pipe cutter radially around the pipe, created by and by a notch. This procedure is repeated until the pipe is severed. Use this tool is for example the case of water and heating installations.

The handle of the tool is often a kind of sinker installed, with which the ports can be deburred.
