History

The PA -12 completed its first flight in 1945 and acquired in February 1946 start of production.

Were produced in total 3760 pieces, of which variants as a seaplane, which today are used mainly as a bush plane. The PA -12 is relatively rare in Germany, therefore, are well-preserved used copies, similar to the PA -18, very much in demand.

Construction

It is the successor of the Piper J -5 and has only minor visual changes. The machine is a three-seat version of the tailwheel series of Piper with Lycoming carburetor Boxer engines of 125 hp and later more powerful engines. The fuselage and the wing surfaces are covered with tissue. It is the Super Cub PA-18 similar, but because of the greater mass of the PA -12 somewhat slower in the control behavior. The Piper PA -14 is the four-seat version of this aircraft.

Use
