Piquet

Piquet ( German: call or call Rummel, formerly Piket ) is considered one of the most interesting and challenging card games for two people. Piquet can also be played by the same method such as ecarte or backgammon as Piquet Chouette to three or more people.

Piquet is considered a French card game whose origin dates back to 1390; the game is but probably younger and probably dates only from the early 16th century. In 1744 Edmond Hoyle wrote a treatise on Piquet.

The following presentation of rules based on Meyers encyclopedia of, 1888.

The rules

Piquet is rarely played with 32 sheets of French playing cards, the so-called Piquetkarte call or card, even with German cards.

The Ace counts eleven, the pictures are worth ten eyes, the other cards according to their designation. Is stung by the natural order: Ace - King - Queen - Jack -10 - 9 - 8 - 7, there are no trumps.

Each player receives twelve cards. The remaining eight cards are placed face down as Talon ( stack ) on the table. It is customary to place the top five across the three lower.

The first player, called the forehand, which was determined before the beginning of the lot by lot, now puts those three to five cards that seem to do him the least, concealed aside and replaces it by drawing the top card from the deck. Then moves the opponent in the same manner, he also replaced at least three cards and at most as many as the forehand has left over.

Now the leaves are valued, that is, it is the value of the hands, arising from a particular card combinations, hip. We distinguish:

  • The hype ( or sheet )
  • The sequences ( or sequences ) and
  • The art pieces.

Rummel called the color, from which the player most of the leaves has in hand; each card of that matters as much Points (French for points) as the hype single sheets, ie a player owns five sheets of the same color, he may sit for 5 × 5 = 25 Points record; a frenzy of six leaves, therefore, has 36 points, etc.

Sequence or sequence is called the another in a series of subsequent sheets of the same color. After their extent they have special names and values. A set of three cards is called third ( and is three points), four quarts ( four points), fifth of five (fifteen points), sixth of six (sixteen points), seven seventh ( seventeen points) and eight cards octave (eighteen points).

A feat is the four - or threefold existence of cards worth between Ace and Ten; in the former case it is square, called in the other Gedritt; this is valid for three, that fourteen points.

The review is to be noted that a card that has already been counted in a frenzy, can be found later in a sequence use: If a player has a sixth, it reports the first six cards as hype and later again as a sequence. Please do not use cards that have been evaluated in a fairground or a sequence later be used to form a work of art.

After accrediting counting the forehand. There must always be known color. Every single play-out and everyone made stitch count a point; but, when the Ausspieler also makes the stitch together accounted to him for both just a point. For the last trick, which is made to cast the twelve cards, counting mostly three points. Who made the greater number of stitches, calculated for ten points. If both players have made six engravings, these remain and are attributed to each according to that agreement, which makes most of the stitches in the next game.

If the opponent is unable to say something valid, and he can not make a single stitch, so counts the forehand if it has announced a number of eyes and has come to them by the continuous playing out up to 30, instead of 30 now 60 ( makes a sixties or Pique ) and continues to count with 61, 62 etc.

If one of the players has nothing to declare valid, but the other is by continuing to Sign up on 30, so he makes a nineties or Repique. Power of all stitches ( Capot or Vole ), then it counts for an extra 30.

If one of the players After completion of purchase no images ( figures), it is called Cartes blanches, and the player receives ten points. Usually in this case also the ten is considered picture.

Piquet is played either by batch or eyes. In a match with games is not played further than 100 eyes. Achieved the loser not 50 eyes, so he has to pay double the price be made .

Supplements

A game consists of six individual games, the passing game will change to match. The statement will be made as follows:

The loser has less than 100 points, he has not crossed the Rubicon and the winner will receive the sum of (!) Of the scores of the two players plus an additional 100 points. This is particularly true when the winner himself could also achieve less than 100 points.

The loser has to report but 100 points, the winner will win the difference of the scores plus an additional 100 points.
