Pirate Party Belgium

The Pirate Party Belgium ( PPBE, Dutch. Piratenpartij, French Parti Pirate, German Pirate Party ) is a political party in Belgium. It is part of the international movement of Pirate Parties. The party was founded on 28 June 2009 and has its headquarters in Brussels. To go to the Belgian language conflict out of the way, the party communicates internally used officially in English and the English proper name " Pirate Party".

Organization

Subdivisions are made in Brussels, Wallonia, Flanders and in eastern Belgium. While the German -language "Local Group East Belgium " also uses the proper name " Pirate Party eastern Belgium ."

The party is led by a core team. This consists of three co-chairs, one from each of Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels, and the Treasurer. Local organized the party in crews from three to eleven members, who are each guided by a captain, a navigator and possibly a treasurer. There are also squads that work thematically or project basis.

In the parliamentary elections in Belgium in 2010 on 13 June 2010, the party first participated in an election. They came only in the constituency of Brussels -Halle- Vilvoorde and reached there 0.26 % of votes. Candidate of the party was Jurgen Rateau.

At the local and provincial elections in 2012 the party joined in 14 cities and 26 provinces. The best results they achieved in the university town Ottignies -Louvain- la -Neuve with 5.4% and in the provinces of Namur and Tournai 3.09 % with 3.42%.
