History

The party was founded on January 14, 2012 after five months of preparation by Giorgio Mariotti. On 10 February 2012, it was officially registered and at that time had 480 members. On April 15, she joined the Pirate Parties International.

Cleavage

In the course of 2013 it came to the exit of several founding members and members of the Steering Committee, including by Giorgio Mariotti and Michalis Petropoulos. This justified their withdrawal so that " machinations of the old system hijacked the party" would have. They founded a new party called ΠΕΙΡΑΤΕΣ - Αμεσοδημοκρατικό Κίνημα Ελλάδας ( Pirates - Movement for Direct Democracy Greece).
