Pirates of the Sea
The Pirates of the Sea are a band from Latvia. They represented their country at the Euro Vision Song Contest 2008 in Belgrade, Serbia.
Band Members
- The Italian singer Roberto Meloni, who lives in Latvia. He is also a part of the group bonaparti.lv who Latvia, represented at the Euro Vision Song Contest 2007 in Helsinki, Finland.
- The professional dancer Aleksandra Kurusova.
- The radio and TV star Jānis Vaišļa. He has acquired by the TV show " ekspedicija " ( Expedition ) a level of awareness.
Roberto Meloni and Aleksandra Kurusova were known by the TV show " Dejo ar zvaigzni " ( Dance with the stars ) and have decided to start a group together with Jānis Vaišļa specifically to set up for the Euro Vision. The idea of participation in the national qualifying round comes from Meloni, the Vaišļa and Kurusova contacted and invited the group to join.

On February 2, won the Pirates of the Sea, the first semi-final of the preliminary decision, with the texted from the four Swedes Jonas Liberg, Johan Sahlen, Claes Andreasson and Torbjorn Wassenius song Wolves of the Sea to German wolves of the sea. On March 1, the band won the finals, which start at the Euro Vision Song Contest in Belgrade allowed.
Euro Vision Song Contest 2008
In the semifinals of the Euro Vision Song Contest 2008 on May 22 Pirates of the Sea is qualified for the final. Two days later they occupied in the victory of the Russian Dima Bilan an eleventh place.
