Pirimicarb is an active ingredient for plant protection and a chemical compound from the group of the carbamates.
Production and representation
Pirimicarb can be obtained by reaction of the intermediates in the reaction of 2- Methylethylacetoacetat with N, N- Dimethylguanidinsulfat and phosgene with dimethylamine.
Properties
Pirimicarb is a colorless solid that is poorly soluble in water.
Use
Pirimicarb is used as an active ingredient in pesticides. It is used as a selective aphicide ( insecticide against aphids tube ) with a large number of cereals and other crops and acts by inhibiting acetylcholinesterase. It was first approved in 1970. With pirimicarb - desmethyl (CAS :30614 -22 -3) and pirimicarb - desmethyl- formamido ( 27218-04-8 ) are two derivatives with similar characteristics.
Pirimicarb was approved in 2006 in the European Union as an insecticide active ingredient. In Germany and Switzerland pesticide products are approved with this drug, in Austria not.
