Pirita-Kose-Kloostrimetsa Circuit

The Pirita - Kose - Kloostrimetsa or Kalevi Circuit is a race track east of Tallinn, Estonia.

History

Since 1959, takes place annually the Kalevi Suursõit ( Great Race of Kalev ). There are in the discharged in the style of the Isle of Man TT races exclusively motorcycles at the start. The last time 1997 cars were traveling at racing speed. Even after a fatal accident in 1978 during a Formula Vostok race, in which a pregnant woman was killed, rested on the 1980 years the automobile sports activities on the Kalevi Circuit. Before all Russian Aumobil racing classes such as Formula 1 to 4 were at the start. The motorcycle sports activities were not restricted. After this accident the race in 1980 returned to Tallinn.

The track was used from 1933 to 1939 for the Estonian TT and the Estonian Grand Prix. In 1959, she opened with a length of 8.566 km. For the year 1962, a slight extension of 8.648 km. After 1964 no races were held, was rebuilt the track and a drastic reduction to 6.026 km. Since then, the line was further modified, but continue measuring approximately 6 km.
