Pirro Albergati

Pirro Capacelli Albergati Conte ( born September 20, 1663 Bologna, † June 22, 1735 ) was an Italian composer of the Baroque.

Life

Pirro Albergati belonged to one of the most distinguished noble families of Bologna, he held several important posts in the administration of the city. He studied natural philosophy, learned early to play the violin and studied composition with Giacomo Antonio Perti. Of the professional musicians viewed as " nobile dilettante " ( noble music lovers ), he asked in vain for admission to the prestigious Accademia Filarmonica his hometown. As a member of a patrician family of Bologna, he held multiple public offices in his hometown. From 1685 he was a " confratelli professi ", a member of the charitable Confraternity of Santa Maria della Morte, who often aufführte his oratorios and other sacred music. In 1728 he was Kapellmeister in Puiano at Urbino.

Close contacts Arcangelo Corelli reflected from the Plectro armonico in his works resist. In his vocal works Albergati attaches importance to the solo cantabile and less on counterpoint.
