The Pitcairn English ( " Pitkern " or " Pitcairnesisch ") is an existent on Pitcairn Island Creole, which is based on a dialect of English of the 18th century and the Tahitian this era.
The ( almost ) same language is also spoken by 1856 relocated to Norfolk Island Pitcairnern, the Norfolkern, there under the name " Norfuk " or " Norfolk ".
The language code according to ISO 639-3 is pih.
History of Language
After the mutiny on the Bounty mutineers sailed to Tahiti, where a part of them left the ship ( and was captured later). The rest, under the leadership of Fletcher Christian, sailed away together with a number of Polynesians and settled finally on Pitcairn in the South Pacific down.
As the crew of the Bounty Tahitian no, the population of Tahiti but barely understood English, was formed as a communication level, a pidgin, " Pitcairn English," today Pitkern whose history ( if any) was de facto independent from the English from that date.
