Pityriasis rubra pilaris

Pityriasis rubra pilaris (also Stachelflechte ) is a chronic skin disease that comes from the hair follicles. The cause is unknown. The appearance of this largely painless disease is similar to psoriasis ( psoriasis).

Clinic

After the early relapsing-remitting ( at scalp, arms and legs ) appearance of small orange-red papules ( small nodules ) to form yellow -dimensional and sometimes patches of scales. This can lead to redness of the entire skin ( erythroderma ). A typical sign of pityriasis rubra pilaris are islands of non- lesional skin between the herds.

Therapy

Without treatment, there is the disease for years, but finally heal from. Treatment with Etretin leads to blanching and flattening of the herd within a few weeks. However, the complete recovery takes months.
