Piz Linard

The Piz Linard is a mountain in the Rhaetian Alps. It is located in Switzerland and is 3'411 m above sea level. M. high. He is the highest mountain in the Silvretta. It towers above the village of Lavin in the Lower Engadine to about 2000 m and thus is regarded as the landmark.

The first ascent of Piz Linard was performed by the naturalist Professor Oswald Heer and Johann Madutz ( leader ) on August 1, 1835. You may already earlier, indigenous hunters were at the summit, but this has never been proven conclusively. There was a rumor that already in 1572 a man named Chounard, alone, with a golden cross, which he took, under great troubles reaching the summit. The cross was never found.

The normal ascent leads through the south wall ( Difficulty Level I, Set II) to the top and takes about 4-5 hours from the Chamanna dal Linard. Due to the wide -reaching mountain top views, this route can be in the summer quite often what brings significant risk of rock falls with in conjunction with consistently brittle rock.
