Piz Pisoc

The Piz Pisoc (debate in Vallader: pitspizɔk ) is 3,173 meters above sea level. M. the highest point of the Swiss National Park and after the Piz Sesvenna the second highest mountain in the right side of the Lower Engadine. The summit lies on the border between the municipalities of Scuol and Scuol. Neighboring mountains of Piz dals Vadeş ( 3'140 m above sea level. M. ), the Piz Zuort ( 3'119 m above sea level. M. ) and the Piz Mingèr ( 3'081 m above sea level. M. ). The prominence of the summit is 922 m ( Pass da Costainas / Piz Sesvenna ).

Ascent

The route leads up through the Val Zuort from the hamlet Fontana in Scuol. From about 2,640 m above sea level. M. leads them through a rockfall risk gutter to the ridge between the Piz dals Vadeş and Piz Pisoc. From there to the summit, the route is marked in red and white. The difficulty is T5 / II

The rock of the Piz Pisoc is fragile.

Geology

The Piz Pisoc and the neighboring peaks lie south of the Engadine window and are part of the geological S- charl - ceiling. The peaks are thus, according to the main orogenic rock dolomite to the Lower Engadine Dolomites ( Eastern Alpine sedimentary cover ). The rock formation took place in the Triassic.

The Piz Pisoc belongs to a summit plain, as they are typical of the Eastern Alps: Many of the top right of the Inn within a radius of 10 km are about the same, namely to 3,100 m above sea level. M.

National park

The Piz Pisoc is the highest elevation in the Swiss National Park. The eastern and southern flank of Piz Pisoc fall steeply into the Val S -charl and the Val Mingèr: The summit would be from the park area so forth, even apart from the park prevailing Weggebot practically unreachable. With 1,382 m above sea level. M. is also the lowest point of the National Park on Piz Pisoc, namely Clemgia under the plan because of Funtana, shortly before the Clemgia Gorge.

Rest

The Pisoc massif is about 1,500 m above sea level. M. crossed by a tunnel of the Engadine power plants.
