PKP class Pm36

The PM36 series consisted of two express steam locomotives of Polish State Railways PKP. Because of its elegant exterior, the locomotives as Piękna Helena ( Helen of Troy ) are known.

History

The series PM36 was built in 1937 at Fablok Chrzanów in two copies. The provided with a streamlining PM36 -1 was exhibited at the 1937 World Exhibition in Paris, where he was awarded a gold medal. You reached 150 km / h on tracks in Germany. A planned series production of the locomotives did not come off because of the Second World War.

First, in 1939 PM36 -1 de-energized, queued in the collections of the Deutsche Reichsbahn than 18 601 and used in Berlin -Grunewald.
