PKP class SM04

The PKP SM04 Series is a simple shunting locomotive of the type 409Da.

Based on the Vorgangerbaureihe LS150 developed the Polish locomotive factory Fablok 1959, the type of locomotive 409Da. This is almost identical as the type LS150 down to the slightly more powerful diesel engine. New was the possibility of later without too much effort to install an even more powerful engine. The main customers of the series were plants and industrial railways in Poland. There they were used for light shunting and shunting. In the meantime, the company Zastal took over the production.

In the 1990s, the Polish railway PKP acquired two type locomotives 409Da and set it as SM04 - SM04 - 001 and 002 in service. They were used at stations in light shunting along with the series SM03. Another purchase was made , the two locomotives were taken and placed out of service in 2000. The locomotive SM04 -002 was taken over by the Polish railway museum in Chabówka.
